Petting tweety

As I am a bird-lover…my mom..recently bought me a parrot(The Indian ringneck parrot….female one)..which eventually led into many interesting and funny issues...
(Initially you wouldnot be getting what I am saying but as you scroll down you will definitely understand..)
Issue1:
We had to transfer the parrot into another big cage..(as it was initially kept in a bamboo cage)
Issue2:
Then was the “namkaran”(naming ) issue!!! What will we call our ‘green’ member?
Issue3:
The feeding issue!
The first issue required great effort actually!!!...Transferring the parrot into the big cage was the hell of a job..it involved all members of our family..lol!
What we did was placed the cages(The bamboo and the metal one) side by side such that the doors opened into each other…and then we tied both the cages so that she would not fly out!...
But this parrot proved to be smarter than any one of its species !!! Seriously!
It did not move into the bigger cage and even started gnawing the bamboo cage it was in!
By this time we had tried all sorts of tricks to get it into the other cage…we placed food and water in the other cage..but it did not even eat!..
It was 4 pm then by this time it had been an hour since all members of our family tried to lure her to the other cage !
We decided to leave it alone ..hoping it will eventually move to the other cage in an hour or so..!! But believe me… it did not go into the cage till 7 am i.e the next day!!! ..finally its fear gave into hunger!!
Now comes the second issue ..the naming!!...
My brother and I decided not to call it “meethu” ..(The most common pet name for parrots!!...lol :D)
My brother suggested its name to be “TWEETY”……..i know I know ..what all of you are thinking!!...You are thinking about the canary “tweety” in “Sylvester n tweety mysteries” right???..If you thought so..then you are absolutely right.. we siblings just loved the show.
Anyways .. coming back to our discussion..!!
Though the first two issues were solved somehow...the third issue still persists!!!!
The Feeding Issue!!
The bird-keeper had advised us to feed it only apples and pears for the first 15 days ..till it got adjusted to seeing us. ..Now this was a great problem because, it only ate apples and pears and touched nothing else!!(Mind it…..!!!apples and pears..aren’t seasonal fruits in summer :P ..a bit costly!! )
We managed to give her some guava and peanuts at times..but tweety proved to a hell lot..choosy!!!
You will be amazed at what she eats!..
TO – EAT list:
1> Britannia marie biscuits.. (She doesn’t touch any other brand of biscut!!...And eats only sweet biscuits!!)
2> In Fruits: Apples, pears, guavas, watermelon and mangoes!!
3> In veggies: Long beans!!!
(She doesn’t even touch chillies!!!!... and as far as I have seen ..parrots love eating chilli!!)
4> (You will love this part!!)
She eats fast food!! ..samosas…vada.. dosa..You give her..and she eats!!
And if you offer her anything out of the list, she simply drops it out of her cage!!
She is one cool lady!!...You put your finger into her cage she won’t bite you as other parrots do!
If you tell her to speak out something..she will simply ruffle her feathers..as if she hates to speak out… but when tweety’s hungry..she will so cutely call you that..you yourself will be tempted to feed her!!
I swear,I have petted..3 parrots till now!(I set them free after 6 months J)..but never till now have I seen such a clever, cute and choosy parrot.. !!!
Well..friends any feeding suggestions!! ??
Any comments and suggestions regarding this post are welcome J

  5. Parrots love to eat whatever you eat! Sharing your meal helps them feel closer to you. A parrot should have a healthy, well-balanced diet. It should consist of fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, meat and grains. Peanut butter and cooked eggs are other sources of protein that are good for parrots

cooki(e)ng

Last week ,when I had baked a choco-vanilla cake and we(my mom,bro n me) were just about to eat it..when my bro exclaimed ,"Thank God we donot need a hammer today!" Hearing this everyone but me started laughing :X.... . I knew how pathetic I was at baking cakes... but this time(by chance) my cake was soft :P No no..I m not a bad cook at all....but when i bake cakes...they turn into cookies .. , the saddest part is even though they taste good... my cakes r so hard that... who knows...u might chip off ur tooth :P.... Earlier when i baked a cake... my mother had to literally break the cake into pieces... we had a hard time chewing :P.............that day i wondered..if i could use my cakes as weapons of self-defence... throw a cake and the miscreants get hurt... :P ..lol, but , fortunately or unfortunately..i have learnt making soft cakes ..... :P but now i do miss the adventure i had while digging into cakes earlier :P.. signing off........
